What You Can Do in the Catalog

The catalog refers to the QDIC function that registers assets and metadata obtained from your organization's services. For details, see the following: Catalog Structure and Assets

The Catalog screen is where you display and operate on catalog assets. From the Catalog screen, you can do the following:

• Browse assets. You can also view asset metadata and properties.
• Search for assets and display the asset list

How to Access the Catalog Screen

Display from the Navigation Panel

Click the Catalog icon from the Navigation panel.

Display Assets from the Search Bar

Enter a keyword in the search bar on the Home screen to open the Catalog screen, where a list of assets matching the search criteria will be displayed.

Display Assets from the Home Screen

Click any of the following on the home screen to open the Catalog screen, where the corresponding asset list or asset will be displayed.

• Custom Category
• Service Name
• Favorite Assets
• Trends

Catalog Screen Layout

The catalog screen is displayed in the workspace and mainly consists of the following components.

• A search bar located at the top of the screen. This is a workspace component and is always linked to filtering on the catalog screen.
• The asset list panel located on the left side of the screen
• The asset side drawer located on the right side of the screen. It appears when you click an asset from the asset list.

How to Use the Asset List Panel

When you open the catalog screen, this panel is displayed first, showing a list of assets that match the keywords and selections set in the search bar, further filtered by the conditions set in the filter described below. The number of matching assets is displayed next to the Filter button.

• Clicking an asset displayed in the list opens the Asset side drawer from the right side of the screen, showing details of that asset.
• Clicking a tag of an asset displayed in the list opens the Tag Glossary screen in a new browser tab, displaying the Parent Tag panel and the Child Tag side drawer for the clicked tag.
• Clicking an asset in the hierarchy or parent-child relationship of an asset displayed in the list opens the Asset side drawer from the right side of the screen, displaying details of the clicked asset.

Information Displayed in the Asset List

• Service Icon
  An icon corresponding to the service name will be displayed.
• Asset Name
  By default, the physical name is shown. If asset name display is switched, the logical name will be displayed.
• Asset Logical Name
  Displayed if the asset has a logical name. If you select [Logical Name Only] for asset name display, it will not be shown.
• Owner Icon
  If a parent owner or owner is set for the asset, the corresponding user's icon will be displayed. Hovering over the icon will display the user's full name and email address.
• If the original data is lost, Original Data Lost will be displayed. This applies to assets from agent data sources.
• If archived, Archived will be displayed. This applies to assets from csv data sources.
• Favorite Icon
  If the asset is in your favorites, the Favorite icon will be displayed in color. Clicking this colored icon will remove the asset from your favorites and return the Favorite icon to white.
• Overview
  The asset's overview will be displayed. If no overview is registered, it will be blank.
• Tags
  Tags assigned to the asset will be displayed.
• Asset Hierarchy or Parent-Child Relationship
  Assets in the hierarchy or parent-child relationship leading to the asset in the catalog will be displayed. Asset names are shown as physical names.

Filtering

Clicking the Filter button opens the Filter side drawer from the left side of the screen, where you can specify filtering conditions for assets displayed in the list. The filter conditions are linked to the search bar, so the assets displayed in the asset list will be those that match the keyword or search expression entered in the search bar and meet the filter conditions.

The following filter conditions can be specified:

• Physical Name
  Filter by the asset's physical name using keywords entered in the search bar. Selected by default.
• Logical Name
  Filter by the asset's logical name using keywords entered in the search bar. Selected by default.
• Overview
  Filter by the asset's overview using keywords entered in the search bar. Selected by default.
• DDL Comment
  Filter by the asset's DDL comment using keywords entered in the search bar. Selected by default.
• Property
  Filter by the asset's property value using keywords entered in the search bar. Selected by default.
• Custom Category
  Filter by the selected custom category name. When filtering by tag as described later, please remove the custom category filter.
• Asset Group
  Filter by the selected asset group.
• Tag
  Filter by the selected tag. Only assets with the selected tag will be displayed.
• Owner
  Filter by the asset's owner. Parent owners are not included in the filter.
• Asset Type
  Filter by the asset type.
• Service Name
  Filter by the asset's service name.
• Source
  Filter by the type of asset data source. For csv data sources, select [CSV], and for agent data sources, select [Agent]. Both are selected by default.
• Favorite
  Filter by your favorite status. By default, both [Favorite] and [Not Favorite] are selected.
• Archived
  Filter by the asset's archive status. Choose from [Archived] or [Not Archived]. By default, [Not Archived] is selected.
  This filter is effective for assets from csv data sources. For asset status, see the following: Asset Lifecycle
• Original Data Status
  Filter by the original data status of the asset. Choose from [Lost] or [Exists]. By default, [Exists] is selected.
  This filter is effective for assets from agent data sources. For asset status, see the following: Asset Lifecycle
• Data Quality
  Filter displayed assets by data quality status. By default, both [Normal] and [Abnormal] are selected.
  The quality criteria are set by the administrator or data steward. For details, see the following: How Asset Outlier Detection Works

Switch Asset Name Display

Click the Switch Display icon to change how asset names are displayed in the list.

• Physical Name Preferred
  This is the default asset name display.
• Logical Name Preferred
  Display asset names as logical names. If a logical name does not exist, the physical name will be displayed.
• Logical Name Only
  Display asset names as logical names. However, if a logical name does not exist, the physical name will be displayed.

Sorting

Click the Sort icon to sort assets in ascending or descending order by the specified sort item.

Click the [Relevance] button to display a menu for selecting the information to sort assets by. The following sort items are available:

• Relevance
  Sort displayed assets by the degree of relevance to the search keyword.
• Last Updated
  Sort displayed assets by the asset's last updated date.
• Created Date
  Sort displayed assets by the asset's creation date.
• Physical Name
  Sort displayed assets by the asset's physical name.
• Logical Name
  Sort displayed assets by the asset's logical name.
• Number of Accesses
  Sort displayed assets by the number of accesses during the selected period. You can choose from the following periods:
  • This Year
  • This Quarter (calendar year)
  • This Month
  • This Week
  • Yesterday

Reset

Click the [Reset] button to reset the following items to the workspace default (initial settings):

• Search bar keyword
• Filter
• Sort

How to Use the Asset Side Drawer

Clicking an asset in the Asset List panel opens the Asset side drawer from the right side of the screen.
