Comments are a QDIC feature that allows users to communicate and collaborate with others about assets or tags within the workspace.
All users except guest viewers can post and view comments.
Comments and Threads
Comments
- Messages posted by users are called comments. The following information is displayed for comments:
- User who posted
- Elapsed time since posting
- Comment body
- You can edit or delete your own comments after posting. (You cannot edit or delete comments posted by others.)
Threads
- A thread is a collection of comments related to a single topic. It consists of the initial comment and replies to it.
- You can follow threads. Whenever comments are updated in a followed thread, you will be notified. Select [Comments] from the Notification Center to view notifications about followed threads.
- Threads where communication or discussion has concluded can be set to resolved status.
Thread List
- The comment side drawer displays a list of non-deleted threads. By default, threads are displayed in the order of their creation date.

Click the Comment icon at the top right of the asset side drawer to display the asset-wide comment side drawer. The thread list in this comment side drawer shows all comment threads attached to the basic metadata, detailed metadata, and custom properties described below.
Basic Metadata
When you hover over the following metadata displayed in the asset side drawer, a Comment icon appears on the right side of the screen. Clicking this Comment icon displays the comment side drawer for each metadata item.

Filtering the Thread List
- Open the comment side drawer.
- Click the Filter button at the top left of the screen and set the sort and filter conditions.
- Click the Newest First button to display threads in order of latest posts, or the Oldest First button to display threads in posting order, to sort the thread list.
- Filter the threads displayed by one of the following:
- Select the [Show Resolved] checkbox to display resolved threads.
- Select the [Show Only My Threads] checkbox to display only threads created by the current user.
Creating a New Thread
A new thread is created by posting the first comment.
- Open the comment side drawer.
- Click the New Thread button at the bottom right of the screen.

Setting a Thread to Resolved Status
Threads where communication or discussion has concluded can be marked as resolved, hiding them from the comment list.
