About Roles

A role is a group of permissions that allow users to utilize QDIC functions and settings. User roles are assigned by administrators or operators. Roles are classified as follows:

• Administrator
• Controller
• Citizen User
• Environment Operator

When referring to this documentation site, please check whether the classification of your assigned role matches the intended audience listed at the top of the page.

For example, this page is intended for users with any of the above role classifications.

Administrator (Role Name: Administrator)

• A user who can perform all operations on the catalog and all tenant settings.
• The first user to whom we provide guidance for service sign-up.
• Only administrators can configure settings related to user login authentication.
• Administrators correspond to "control users" in the QDIC usage agreement.

Controller

• Responsible for managing assets and metadata, supporting administrators. Also handles inquiries from users regarding the catalog.
• Users assigned the following roles are classified as controllers.
• Controllers correspond to "control users" in the QDIC usage agreement.

Role Name: Data Steward

• A user who can add, modify, and delete assets and metadata in the catalog.
• A user who can operate QDIC settings related to the catalog.

Role Name: Data Steward Aide

• A user who can add, modify, and delete assets and metadata in the catalog. The assets in scope may be limited by the administrator.
• Cannot operate QDIC settings.

Role Name: Developer

• A user who can edit assets and tags. (Some operations are restricted.) The assets in scope may be limited by the administrator.
• A user who can operate settings necessary for application development.
• Developers correspond to "control users" in the QDIC usage agreement.

Citizen User

• In principle, users who use the catalog. They explore and utilize assets and metadata from the catalog. Users assigned the following roles are classified as users.
• Users correspond to "citizen users" in the QDIC usage agreement.

Role Name: Contributor

• A user who can edit assets and tags. (Some operations are restricted.) The assets in scope may be limited by the administrator.

Role Name: Viewer

• A user who views the catalog.
• Can comment on assets and tags. The assets in scope may be limited by the administrator.

Role Name: Guest Viewer

• A user who views the catalog.
• Cannot comment on assets and tags. The assets in scope may be limited by the administrator.

Environment Operator

• A user who builds connectors in the user organization's environment (cloud or on-premises) and manages connector operations.
• Since this user is not registered as a tenant user, there is no corresponding QDIC role name, but it is assumed that a user with the administrator role will serve as the environment operator.
• Depending on the user organization, someone who is not a QDIC user may serve as the environment operator. In such cases, the environment operator will collaborate with the administrator to maintain the connectors and their operating environment.
